As a father I sometimes find it difficult to fill up my children’s time with meaningful activities. By far the kids’ favorite time is reading with Daddy. I have compiled a short list of some of my kids’ favorite books that I read to them. Hopefully, you will enjoy them as much as I and my kids have. Most of these are for the budget minded as they are all for around $5.
The Monster That Ate My Socks (a great book for 1st to 4th graders!) - This is a great short book. My 1 year old daughter loves the pictures. The book is just short enough to keep her engaged during her short attention span. I like how the book demonstrates good moral character like helping others and to do good in school.
Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book! - Great book to learn the alphabet with!
Children’s Book: Stinky Dinky (Happy Children’s Books Collection) - No other book has been more powerful to teach my children the benefits of bathing than this book. Cute story and teaches kids to take baths.
SuperHero ABC - Great for any kid who loves superheroes! My son loves this book especially the graphics.
The Poky Little Puppy Special Anniversary Edition LGB (Special Edition Little Golden Book) - Ever since my first daughter Sophie was born I have been reading her this book. The illustrations are very colorful which makes reading to a newborn easy as it keeps her attention. The story isn’t too long or too short. I believe it really helped her to get used to Daddy’s voice in the first few weeks of her life.
That is the first of many lists of great books to read to your kids. With all the violence in games and television reading time has become more special to me as a parent. The more things I can do with my kids and keep the bad influences at bay then the better example I setting for my kids. Let me know what books you like reading to your children and I will try to include them in my next list.
Happy reading Dads!
